==History==
The monorail was built by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, based on a carriage and box-beam track design developed in the late 1950s by SAFEGE in France.〔 The line opened March 7, 1970 between Ōfuna and Nishi-Kamakura. The rest of the line opened on July 2, 1971.〔
